Oceanlight Sterling Silver Abalone Earrings

These earrings feature genuine abalone shell cabochons set inside a softly layered cradle of heavy sterling silver wire. The natural colors in these stones shift from sea glass blue to violet, aqua, and warm golden brown as they move in the light. Every swirl of the shell is unique, making each pair a one of a kind treasure.

I hand shaped the frames from solid 22 gauge sterling silver, then wrapped them slowly, adding curve upon curve until the setting held the abalone like a tiny pool of shifting color. Because this design uses a substantial amount of silver, they have a lovely weight without feeling heavy on the ears. Even the ear wires are made by hand for comfort and durability.

These earrings measure just over an inch and a half from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the silver wrap. They are small enough for everyday wear yet eye catching enough to feel special.

Each piece is made slowly by hand in my Northwoods studio. Small variations and natural textures are part of the charm of handmade jewelry. Your pair will look very much like the earrings shown while still being uniquely yours.
