A warm flicker of red light wrapped in copper and crafted by hand.
These earrings are one of my most detailed designs, created with care and patience in my little Northwoods studio. Each piece begins with jeweler’s grade raw copper that I hand form into soft spirals and circular frames. The outer hoop is wrapped slowly, one coil at a time, creating a rich texture that feels warm and earthy.
At the center of each circle sits a bright red crystal bead, glowing like a tiny ember inside a lantern. Below the hoop, I have added a glass teardrop that catches the light beautifully, shifting from cherry red to deep firelight tones as it moves.
Every component is made by hand, including the ear wires. I shape, hammer, file, and polish each part so the earrings feel sturdy and comfortable against the skin. The copper has been oxidized (darkened) and softly polished, allowing the shadows to rest in the small grooves and folds of the wire. This creates a warm, lived in glow that highlights the details. With time it will continue to deepen into a gentle patina that grows lovelier as it ages.
These earrings measure a little over 2.5 inches long from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the glass drop. They are full of gentle movement and have a striking, elegant silhouette.
All my jewelry is made by hand, one piece at a time. Faint tool marks, tiny variations, and natural quirks are part of the charm of handmade work. The pair you receive will look very similar to the earrings shown here, while still having its own quiet uniqueness.
