Grapes and Blue Glass — 8 × 10 inches, oil on linen panel
Some objects seem to carry their own quiet atmosphere. This small arrangement of grapes and blue glass became less about the objects themselves and more about the conversation between light, color, and stillness.
The cool transparency of the blue glass contrasts gently with the warmth of the grapes, whose surfaces shift between deep burgundy, rose, and soft reflected light. The linen surface allows the paint to settle differently than canvas, creating a subtle texture that catches the brushwork and enhances the sense of depth. Light moves through the glass and settles across the table in soft reflections, creating an atmosphere that feels calm and grounded.
The dark background allows the forms to emerge slowly, giving the piece a sense of quiet presence. It is a painting about restraint and attention — about allowing simple, ordinary things to reveal their quiet beauty when observed closely.
This piece is part of my continued exploration of still life as a way of studying light, structure, and emotional tone through everyday objects.
