This piece is completely different from the rest of my holiday collection. It’s richer, heavier, full of texture you can feel with your fingertips. Painted entirely with a palette knife, the candle’s glow is built from thick layers of paint in molten golds, ember-oranges, soft creams, and deep violets. The strokes catch and reflect the light beautifully, making the whole painting shimmer as you view it from different angles.
The little jar feels alive, its warmth pulsing outward into the cool, shadowed background. Up close you can see every ridge of paint, every sculpted mark, every intentional gesture that gives this piece its sense of presence. It has a quiet, meditative stillness — a tiny altar of light for winter days.
This painting is on a sturdy 8x8 inch professional wood panel, which gives it a gallery feel and allows the palette-knife texture to really hold its shape.
I will finish the edges and varnish the piece with either satin or gloss varnish (chosen by me based on what suits the artwork best) when it is purchased. It will arrive ready to hang.
